Pony Share
Our Pony Share is at the heart of Shetland Pony Club and perfect for you if your child wishes to do more. Our unique scheme was created to bring the joy of pony ownership within the practical reach of parents.
We understand that the daily commitment of owning a pony outright is often too much of a burden for today’s busy families . Our Pony Share club will turn your pony owning dreams into a practical reality, with all the fun, a fraction of the expense and none of the worry or regular mucking out!
Members come to the club, with their parents, for a set time each week throughout the season for ride and play sessions which last for two hours. Each session includes a relaxed lead rein ride through the meadows of our beautiful private estate with our experienced staff.
The ranch is open from March to November. During December we ride in the local woods. In January the ponies rest and we aim to start again with woodland rides again in February half term. Membership also offers six extra floating sessions that can be booked during the holidays at times that suit.
Our members buy a share in a chosen Shetland and pay a simple monthly maintenance cost by direct debit which covers all feed, stabling, vet, worming, tack, feet trimming and grooming and insurance costs.The membership is for a calendar year which enables the child to experience the long term responsibility which goes with owning a pony and to enjoy the English countryside in all its seasons.
Our Members:
- Choose a pony that’s right for you
- Visit once a week at a regular time for an Own A Pony experience lasting two hours.
- Have six extra session for use in the holidays.
Your child will create a bond with their chosen pony:
- Learn to groom
- Learn to tack up
- Learn safety with ponies
- Practice leading their pony
- Ride in the meadows with friends
- Learn pony paddock care
- Be involved in all aspects of looking after their pony
- Learn the basics of horse whispering with our new natural horsemanship programme
- Explore the surrey countryside on winter woodland rides
- Join in fun days, and Members shows
- Be invited to watch the Polo at the Herritage Cup Sandhurst.
How it works
We try several ponies to find the perfect one for you and choose a regular time slot that suits your family life. Memberships are per pony and in some cases family members share a pony. There is plenty of time for this in the two hour session.
Membership is fun for parents as well as children as it is a chance to socialise with other parents, enjoy the ponies and get some gentle exercise. Many of our parents enjoy our natural horsemanship (horse whispering) programme.

Saturday 9am-11am
Sunday 9am – 11am
Sunday 11am – 1pm
Monday 2pm – 4 pm
Monday after School
Membership Costs
£175 to join and £99 per calendar month for pony maintenance.
Should you wish to pay annually we can also arrange this through the office.
Our membership is strictly limited to ensure our much loved ponies are not overworked.
